SWIFT CAMPOUT 2025
*** REGISTRATION REQUIRED *** LIMITED CAPACITY ***
Join us this weekend as thousands of bikepackers around the world celebrate the awesomeness that is camping by bike! Most of the pertinent info is listed below but if you have a question not listed, please contact the shop.
Meet When: June 21st, 11:30am. Depart at noon sharp.
Meet Where: West Bragg Creek Trails parking lot. Meet at the information kiosks at the far west end of the parking lot.
Rain or Shine? Yes - to a point. Being that our area is famous for summer snow and heavy rain sometimes in June, we are expecting to proceed even if some light rain is in the forecast. If conditions in the few days leading up to the event are exceptionally nasty, we will cancel the event and notify everyone registered by email. Unfortunately, if this happens there will be no refunds as we will not be able to get our camp registration fees funded - so pray for good weather!
How Long Is The Route: We’ll be riding our Bragg Creek To Sibbald Campground route which is about 22kms one way, or somewhere between 2-3hrs of riding. Video below and link to route here. There is one stream crossing so bring water shoes if you do not want to roll the dice and ride across.
Do I Need To Be Self-Supported? Yes! This is not a supported ride. We will do our best to keep an eye on everyone but you must bring everything you need for a safe, backcountry experience. This includes bike repair stuff, bear spray, and all the things you need for an overnighter in the mountains. You must be prepared to self-extract if your bike shatters into a million pieces.
How Will The Ride Itself Work? The plan is to ride together as a group, re-grouping often along the way so everyone can catch up and feel safe/supported.
What Bike Is Best? A gravel bike with 45mm tires will be ok as well as any modern bikepacking/ATB.
How Hard Is The Route: We consider this to be on the easier end of the difficulty spectrum but harder than something like the Big Elbow Backcountry overnighter. Mostly on singletrack with a few steeper up and downs that are easy to see as you approach them. Also common to encounter some mud holes and there is a small stream (ankle deep) near the beginning of the route that we have to cross.
E-bike Appropriate? Not really as there is nowhere to recharge at the campsite but if you have a big enough battery/range, have at it!
Where Are We Camping? We have booked 4 sites in loop “E” at Sibbald Campground. Each site can officially take 2-3 tents. Bring water filtering technology as there is no potable water. Bear bins located not far from our sites.
How Do I Register/Pay? Head over here to register your tent and join in the fun. VERY LIMITED CAPACITY!
