CRANKSGIVING — A FOOD DRIVE ON TWO WHEELS
What happens when you combine a bike ride, a scavenger hunt and a food drive? Cranksgiving!
Join us for a slightly ridiculous afternoon of riding bikes, buying groceries and doing some good in our community.
Riders will start at BikeBike, receive a mystery shopping manifest, then head out across the city to visit local grocery stores and collect much-needed items for the food bank. How you get there, which stores you visit and how much you decide to haul is entirely up to you.
Ride fast. Ride slow. Bring your cargo bike. Bring your commuter. Bring the kids. Strap a milk crate to your 30-year-old mountain bike. This is absolutely not a serious bicycle race.
There will be challenges, prizes, bragging rights and probably some completely unnecessary items to haul back to BikeBike. We'll have awards for things like fastest finisher, biggest food haul, most generous rider and other accomplishments we haven't invented yet.
When everyone gets back, we'll pile up the food, weigh the haul and celebrate with refreshments and prizes at BikeBike HQ.
No entry fee. Instead, plan to spend roughly $20–30 on food donations during the ride. Everything collected will be donated to a local food bank.
You don't need to be fast. You don't need a fancy bike. You don't need to know what an alleycat is.
You just need a bike, something to carry groceries in and a willingness to help.
Ride bikes. Buy food. Help people.
That's Cranksgiving.
